- When you start Mail for the first time, you will be prompted for basic setup information by a window like the one below.
- Enter your full name in the Full Name: box.
- Enter your e-mail address in the E-mail Address: box.
- Enter mail.svn.net in the Incoming Mail Server box.
- Select POP for Account Type:.
- Enter your username in the User Name: box. (This is the first part of your e-mail address, before the @ sign.)
- Enter your password in the Password: box.
- Enter mail.svn.net in the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): box.
- Click OK.
- The software will now attempt to test your mail settings. If you're not connected to the Internet, this test may fail. Click Continue.
- When prompted to import your mailboxes, select No, unless you have e-mail to import from another e-mail program on your computer.
- Your account is now properly configured.
- To make changes to an existing account, start the Mail program and then select Preferences from the Mail menu at the top of your screen.
- Click on Accounts at the top of the window that opens.
- Click on Account Information.
- The Description: should contain a descriptive title of your mail account. This can be anything you like.
- The Email Address: box should contain your e-mail address, such as username@svn.net
- The Full Name: box should contain your full name, as you would like it to appear on e-mail that you send.
- The Incoming Mail Server: should be set to mail.svn.net
- The User Name: box should contain your SVN username. This is the first part of your e-mail address, before the @ sign.
- The Password: box should contain your SVN password. For security reasons, your password will not be displayed on the screen.
- Click on the Server Settings button.
- Outgoing Mail Server: should be mail.svn.net.
- The remaining fields should be left at their default settings.
- Click OK.
- Click on Advanced.
- Enable this account, Include when automatically checking for new mail, and Remove copy from server after retrieving a message should all be checked.
- Be sure that Right away is selected.
- Authentication: should be set to Password.
- Close the Accounts window, being sure to save any changes if prompted.
